With over 85% of our Year R children achieving the communication and language early learning goals, talk is firmly embedded within the classroom environment.
But what can we do to support those children who struggle with their language skills? Educationalist James Britton once said "Reading and Writing float on a sea of talk" and the Literacy ELGs a priority for many schools, we need to ensure our children's communication skills are secure. This session will look at a range of strategies to promote talk and early language development in Year R to secure skills across a range of areas.
By the end of this workshop you will:
- Have a range of strategies which are focussed on language development
- Have explored how we get exceeding talkers
- Be ready to get that talk happening everywhere in your environment
